What people say about (Penderbrook Golf Club)

Not Recommended – Unprofessional Staff and Poor Course Conditions Unfortunately, our experience at this golf course was disappointing from both a customer service and course maintenance perspective. The course itself is in poor condition – the grass is patchy, uneven, and overgrown in several areas, despite claims that it is regularly maintained. More concerning, however, was the unprofessional behavior of the staff. One of my colleagues booked a separate tee time shortly before ours (4:20 PM and 4:30 PM, respectively) and planned to play ahead of us. When we arrived to pick up our golf carts, she was unexpectedly told she would have to share a cart with a stranger. She expressed discomfort and politely explained she hadn’t been aware of that policy. An employee then kindly offered to adjust our tee times so we could play together, which we appreciated. However, upon returning at 5:10 PM for our 5:20 PM tee time, we were approached by someone who appeared to be the manager. Rather than offering assistance, he was condescending and accusatory, saying things like, “Clearly you haven’t been to a golf course before,” and implying we were being difficult, even though we had not requested any changes ourselves. He ended the conversation with a dismissive comment about not booking a tee time and expecting to “be paired with your little friends.” We found his attitude belittling and unprofessional, and based on other reviews, this seems to be a pattern. While every course has its own policies, respectful communication and basic customer service should be standard. We won’t be returning—and would advise others to consider their options as well. reply to manager: my colleague was on time and said specifically that she would have paid for a golf cart fee when you had told us this policy but no staff made us aware of this also as i said in my review we did not ask to be put together it was about her riding with a random stranger then your employee suggested we move our tee time and we agreed, also on your website it’s unclear about the golf cart policy as it says “golf cart fee included” which many interpret as you already paid for your own single use golf cart so maybe you should make your policies more clear and you wouldn’t have all this trouble.

Let’s start with the price of this place. $80 to play a round here is simply absurd. On top of this, we had a guy get stuck at work and was not able to make the tee time. Thursday morning and they said we have to pay an extra 30 because of a no show. This place is an absolute rip off. Course is in poor shape. You can blame the winter but I guarantee it’ll be in the same during the summer (always is). We had a group of 6. Split groups 3/3. Course was not busy. The 2 groups that were behind us we let play through as our plan was to try to combine the group of 6 (I know frowned upon but we were moving and no one was waiting on us.) we were playing best ball scramble and we knew not to hold anyone up. The starter comes up to us on hole 5 and says if we join together again we will get kicked off the course. This place will try to charge you for everything they can. Much better courses within 20 minutes of here for a much better rate. Herndon centennial and Bristow manor are cheaper and in better conditions.

Staff is friendly and the course is decent but isn’t worth the $90-$100 they charge. No driving range and no drinking water on the course, or at the halfway house. Best of all, they charge you an extra $15 if you have a threesome and don’t want to ride in a cart with a stranger, even if that person is walking, insane.
