What people say about (Shipyard Golf Club)

Layne Saliba

Played the Galleon and Clipper courses at Shipyard and had a fantastic round. The greens were in excellent shape – smooth and fast – and the bunkers were well-maintained throughout. Great course with some fun holes that even a newbie can end up with a par on. The only downside was the starter being a bit annoyed at us for being “late,” even though we arrived 20 minutes early. That aside, the staff was friendly and the course layout was both fun and challenging. Highly recommend Shipyard to any golfer visiting Hilton Head!

Played shipyard today. We heard some pretty low opinions when we told locals where we were playing. One went as far as to call in Sh!tyard. From the time we rolled up, staff was friendly and attentive. He explained how they are overseeding with rye and the Bermuda is starting to come in. There are spots where you could see that. But overall, fairways are in good shape. The greens were absolutely beautiful. Green, well manicured. Fast enough for low handicaps, but not too tough for high handicaps. If you have a low opinion of this course, try it again. Well done Shipyard. Also, lots of gators to see. Id play here again in a heartbeat.

Factoring in cost this course was great. Only $65 which is a steal compared to the other courses nearby. No it is not as nice as Harbor Town (but that also costs $600 to play). Played 9 holes at 5:48 pm after sitting in a car all day long. Got off by myself off Brigantine 9. I played the green tees because I wanted to practice my irons. I did not use a driver on any hole due to the narrow gaps placing the ball 150-170 yards out seemed like the best option. Overall course was in great shape again considering the cost. When I was done, they even cleaned my clubs for me. Would be interested to play the other courses here. Great experience. Many people complained about pace of play management, but that is needed on a resort course.
