What people say about (Heritage of Hawk Ridge Golf)

Ally Bergman

We are very grateful for being introduced to this wonderful course through Steve Sanders. This was our daughter’s first experience playing golf and even though she is only 8, they welcomed the kids league allowing them to learn alongside other kids and adults. She is loving playing golf and it has a lot to do with her experiences with courses and people that play. We are looking forward to another great season.

I love this course. It is quick but challenging and great for introducing new golfers. The youth league Coached by Steve Sanders is wonderful! The pace and learning experience have been amazing for my daughter, and we definitely will be back.

My course score is a 5….Read both the pros and cons to understand the 2 star rating…… The Pros- As a regular at this par 3 course, I can say with confidence that it’s one of the better-kept public short courses in the area. The tee boxes are clean and level, the greens are consistently in excellent shape, and the layout offers a fun challenge for golfers of all skill levels. It’s a great place to work on your short game without committing to a full 18, and the maintenance crew deserves credit for how sharp and enjoyable the course remains year-round. The Cons…..which has nothing to do with the course- This course experience can be tainted very quickly by something that has nothing to do with the course itself: the homeowners surrounding it. Many of the properties around the course are owned by older residents who have a lot of time on their hands, like to complain, and be completely rude to paying players. There’s a noticeable and unfortunate ownership complex among some of them—as if the course is their private backyard rather than a public amenity meant to be enjoyed by all ages, skill levels, and knowledge of the beautiful game of golf. It’s not just the occasional grumble, either. Players have been met with rude comments, glares, insults and even threats shouted from porches or open windows. Until today I had only witnessed these uncalled for behaviors. That changed today (7/9/2025). I experienced this kind of uncalled for, rude and insulting behavior first hand. It’s disappointing to see that kind of hostility, especially on a public course where golfers are simply trying to enjoy the game respectfully. For a course this nice, you’d hope the environment around it would match the quality of the grounds. It does not. I still recommend the course for its condition and design, but I do so with the caveat that players may occasionally feel unwelcome—not by the staff or fellow golfers, but by some of the neighboring residents who’ve clearly forgotten what it means to share space with a public resource.
