What people say about (Golf Club of Wentzville)

Joshua Woods

Was part of a 20 team scramble and after 3 hours was told by 2 different course advisors we were playing too slow. I could see 2 teams in front of me and thought it would be polite to not play in to them. This course disagreed with me. I guess my 10th year here will be my last.

I've been playing at the Golf Club of Wentzville for over 20 years and have participated in league play for many of those seasons. The course itself has always been enjoyable—especially the back 9, which offers a fun and challenging layout. It’s been a great place for both casual rounds and competitive play. Unfortunately, recent changes in management or ownership have significantly impacted the experience. High school practice times have been scaled back, and league play is being eliminated—right as the season was getting underway. It’s unclear whether this applies to all league nights, but the trend is concerning. These decisions don’t reflect well on the course’s commitment to its long-time patrons or to the younger players who are just learning the game. It’s disappointing to see a place that once fostered community and development in the sport move in this direction. Many of us—league players and local students alike—are now considering other courses. It’s a shame to see such a great course lose touch with the community that supported it for decades.

I’m leaving 5 stars because I love this course and want to keep playing it. As of recent, last 2 days, my experience hasn’t been great. Showed up for my tee times, Thursday and Friday, very early, and ran into a line of people who were just as aggravated as me. We ended up teeing off 20 minutes after our scheduled time both days. The line of golfers we were behind was incredible. That rounded ended up at about 6 hours. Today same thing happened but course management thought it would be a good idea to come around at Hole 6 and tell all golfers and groups behind and in front of us that we needed to speed up. I understand golf, pace of play and neither were issues. They want to make money and I get it but if it continues I’ll go elsewhere.
