What people say about (Las Positas Golf Course)

Course is in good spring shape. Greens appear recently aerated but mostly recovered. Pace was reasonable — completed our middle-day weekend round in 5 hours. Be sure to bring enough water, there are no refill stations on course.

EDIT: I decided to give LP another go after hearing they put some serious work into the course and facilities. Boy was I surprised and impressed with their efforts!! The greens are in amazing shape and roll exceptionally true. Pacing was not a problem on a beautiful Friday evening. Staff was friendly. The only complaint would be the inconsistent fairway conditions, but this is a common issue at any area course due to the dry climate. Nicely done LP! Old review: The course itself is fine. Fairways are in decent shape right now and the greens are mostly smooth. The unacceptable part of this course is the pace of play. I've had more than one 6+ hour day because of the absurd 8-minute intervals this course uses. No marshals in sight means folks take their time playing. For the price this course charges, 8 minute tee times is hard to comprehend. I highly recommend Dublin Ranch, which is marginally more expensive and miles ahead of this course.

I hate rating this place 3 stars because I see the good bones there. It's a great layout with a lot of fun holes, but man, this place was in capital R rough shape when I played it. There wasn't a discernible fairway on most holes as everything was shaggy, and the rough was wild. There were three instances when I lost my ball off my tee shot in the fairway. On the good side the greens are well kept and the price was good for a weekend (56 walking). Overall, with some TLC this place could be a real fun spot. Also the little par 3 course looked fun. Hope to come back here when they can get it back in shape.
