What people say about (Dorado Golf Course)

Christopher J Hearn

Great executive 18 hole course in quality condition off the beaten path here in East Tucson. No driving range, but a small chipping green and 2 small putting greens. Course in really good condition, mostly par 3's and some par 4's. Fun track with some difficulty level involved. Water on certain holes and dry wash out-of-bounds areas making decisions on club selections required. Proshop staff went above and beyond to make an out-of-towner feel at home there. I collect metal ball markers and they had just ran out of them to sell. She had them on certain golf gloves for sale and she took one from the glove knowing she would be getting more stock in soon. Five stars for the accomdation! Pleasant and inviting experience, would definitely come and play again when traveling in the East Tucson area!!

Good price, we love this course its fun and forgiving. I've been playing it for a long time and it has improved massively. It's turning into a nice country club like vibe. Much better shape than 10 years ago. I like the employees and glad to see the regulars. Every now and then, though, there’s a shift in the atmosphere depending on who's working. The rules are stricter, and interactions come off as less friendly than usual—particularly around cart return times. Return time is 6:30. We got 3 calls by then. And were hounded when we got it in by 6:32, we were told that the carts shut off completely at a certain time and can’t be moved after that—but we’ve often seen them being used past that point without issue. It feels very excessive compared to the otherwise chill and welcoming experience this course is known for. Multiple times this has been a talking point among me and whatever Randoms I get paired with.

I played a round here a few week ago, and the facility exceeded my expectations. To be clear, it is an executive course, with a number of shorter, drive-able par 4s (meaning pace of play will be a little slower, waiting for the greens to clear). With that said, we appreciated the course's layout, it was in fairly good condition, and the clubhouse/check-in area was modern and excellent! A very nice experience overall.
