What people say about (The Brooke | Breakfast & Lunch)

Rodger Beard

Bright and airy active-adult centric public restaurant within the MountainView Clubhouse. Indoor and outdoor seating. Good, traditional breakfast menu. Food is excellent quality. Berries, nuts and slow-cooked oatmeal a personal favorite.

I met my wife and a friend at the Brooke for lunch. They arrived about 15 minutes ahead of me and ordered drinks. I arrived at about 12:35. There were 5 occupied tables in the dining room and a couple more in the bar area. I counted 4 servers and 3 or 4 other employees in the dining room. After I arrived and sat down with my party, we were not approached by our server or any of the other employees for at least 20 minutes. As I was preparing to get up and find some help, our server finally noticed me and approached the table. Our server stated that she was sorry and had not seen me arrive. We ordered our lunch and waited for someone to come by for drink refills (iceed tea). After about 10 minutes, our server brought a pitcher of tea and refilled our drinks. We had received our food order in the interim, which was good. We ate our lunch as the dining room emptied. While eating, I discovered that our ketchup bottle was almost completely empty. I was anticipating that our server or another employee would check to see if we were satisfied with the food and needed anything else, but that didn't happen. After about 5-10 minutes, I got up and took a bottle of ketchup off of an adjacent table. We finished our meal and waited another 10 minutes for our server to bring the check. We paid and left. We were at the restaurant for just over 90 minutes to eat 3 hamburgers. Although our meal was fairly good, the service was extremely disappointing. I have historically loved eating at HOA2 restaurants. In the past 6-8 months, the overall experience at the Brooke and the Mountain View Bar and Grill has deteriorated to the point that we will no longer eat there. (We love the Preserve and will gladly continue to eat there). I have heard from a significant number of fellow residents here who share my feelings and have stopped patronizing the restaurants at Mountain View. I hope that someone at the HOA administration will take note of my concerns. I can't be the only one who has complained about this problem.

Staying here with friends who live at Saddlebrooke, I came to Mesquite Grill for breakfast and was glad for the experience in this classy establishment. The breakfast selections were good, and both the meal and coffee were excellent, as was our cheery server who seemed to know everyone. Even spied a coyote schlepping it's way across the golf course at one point. Cool!
