What people say about (Medal of Honor Golf Course)

Sarah Fields

Had an awesome time playing at Medal of Honor Golf Course! The course was in great shape—greens were smooth, fairways were well kept, and the layout had a really nice mix of fun and challenge. You can tell they take pride in keeping it looking good. The views are beautiful, especially with all the trees and open spaces. It has a relaxed, peaceful vibe that made the whole round super enjoyable. Not too crowded either, so pace of play was spot on. Staff was friendly and helpful from the moment we checked in. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. Can’t wait to come back!

To say this course is “open to the public” is somewhat misleading. Yes, you can play the course but you’ll need to go the MCBQ visitor control center first, (which is 6 miles from the course) to get a pass which is good for that day, (bring your “real ID” or your driver’s license and another form of ID.)I was initially told all I needed was the email sent to me from the course pro to show the people working at the visitor center to get a pass that would be good for the season ending March 31, 2026, (ID requirements are the same which is understandable.) The individual at the visitor center told me I needed proof of membership, (which is $1400 to play weekdays or $2000 to play any day, walking.) The way I see it is it’s a private course that the public can play if you want to obtain a visitor pass every time you play. I spoke with a very helpful woman in the clubhouse that took my information and said the course pro would look into it. That was 3 days ago but I haven’t heard anything yet. I used the driving range and from what I saw of the course it looks fairly nice. If you’ve got a military ID no problem, if your just a taxpayer that funds the military you’re going to have to jump through a few hoops.

If you like a course where the pro shop lets single after single tee off amongst foursomes, this is the place for you. They all lean on their clubs at the 150 stake with the expectation that your foursome let them all play through. One even asked! Pace of play, no marshall, no bev cart, restaurant/bar permanently closed, and challenges getting on base make this a less than desirable round of golf. All of this is too bad for the superintendent who has a golf course that is in great shape. Some of the best greens around, fairways are solid, and the rough is lush and fair. Just plan on poor management of pace of play.
