Unfortunately, the course has taken a massive step backwards from where it has been the past two years. The 18 hole blue course is now almost unplayable. Almost impossible to find a flat spot on the saddle-domed, sparsely grassed tee boxes. The "fairways" are a patchwork of invasive grass, clover, and uncovered dirt. Ditto for the rough. The greens are still incredibly bumpy over two weeks after seasonal aeration. To top it all off, pace of play has become a nightmare--a morning (approx 8:30 am) round on a Friday took 5.5 hours. You can get around in 3.5 hours if you go on a weekday before 8 and get lucky. It's a real shame, as the course and facilities seemed to be on the upswing over the last couple of seasons. But overbooking and overuse through the dormant season for the grass have completely killed this course, which is now in full-blown dog track status. Found myself wondering why I had paid to play it--it would currently be overpriced at free. The lone bright spot are the hot dogs and half-smokes, which remain very good.
Didn’t go there to play golf. I went for the cherry blossoms and they did not disappoint. They were spectacular. I recommend it for next year and the years after. This year the blossoms peaked march 23 and 24 th. Great picture taking opportunities. Wear comfortable shoes.
Grew up loving East Po. This is what happens when you book tee times out every ten minutes. Course is full of beginners (which is fine) but absolutely zero enforcement of pace of play. Marshals drive around in carts without saying anything, they got rid of water stations all across the courses, and the course is hacked up like crazy. Sad to say it’s gone completely downhill.
