Canyons is a beautiful, challenging, but strange course. It seems to be a master planning afterthought (ski resort, hotels, and homes all were planned first) and so this course fits into the nooks and crannies of lower Canyons resort. 4 par 3s in the back nine? Check. No pro shop or cafe? Check. Massive tee box drives dropping 300’ to a distant fairway? Also check. Cart paths were curiously rustic (why not replace the asphalt?) but the friendly staff and perfect fairways made up for it. Greens were in great shape but many are multi-tiered, unforgiving beasts. This is not an easy or forgiving course. Bring extra balls and be prepared for big down mountain drives and par 3 after par 3 after par 3. But worth a round when visiting Park City and looking for a challenge at a truly epic mountain course.
