I recently had the pleasure of attending a softball tournament at Morris Frank Park in Lufkin, Texas, and I can't say enough good things about the experience! Despite the wet weather, the new turf fields were absolutely fantastic—no rain delays or muddy conditions, just smooth, high-quality play all day long. It was clear that the organizers put a lot of thought into ensuring the best possible experience for everyone involved. The snack stand was another highlight—reasonable pricing made it easy to keep the team fueled up without breaking the bank. The variety of snacks and drinks available was perfect for a day at the ballpark. From beginning to end, the tournament was well-organized, and the facilities at Morris Frank Park made it a top-notch event. Looking forward to the next one!
Great disc golf course. I visited this place only to play disc golf. It was easy to get to the disc golf course as everything is clearly marked. The course was challenging and fun. Some parts really needed mowing but it was the holy week, so I'll give them a break ;) Some baskets were harder to find than others. My strategy was simply staying behind a big group, so I kind of follow their steps. It was nice and I will definitely visit again. I also had my dogs with me and they enjoyed the experience very much as well. Bring lots of water and snacks. I didn't see anything around to buy stuff.
I went to Morris Frank Park to hike the wetlands trail. It's a tad difficult to find the trail head. I'll attach my map. The baseball fields and main park are kept up beautifully. The wetlands hiking trail and Frisbee golf however is NOT. If you're going for Frisbee golf, be prepared to fight knee to waist deep grass/foliage. The trail is "mostly" easy to walk with some overgrown parts. My shoes and socks are both wet from the dew on the knee-deep grass on trail. Easy parking. If you park where I did on the map, it's a straightforward shot to the trail head. Trail head IS NOT MARKED. There are picnic tables on the hiline and a garbage can (all overgrown) a need amphitheater set up (overgrown), a covered pavilion with picnic tables benches and a lookout deck, and there's a wrap around fishing pier. Lots of big fish can almost grab them with your hands. Surprisingly, no mosquitos. If cleaned up 5 stars easily. It's a beautiful trail, easy 1 mile out-n-back. Great for little kids, photographers, picnics, and fishing.
