I vacationed at Fairfield Glade a number of years ago and played most of the area courses. Bear Trace was in pretty good shape and I enjoyed playing there.

Course was recently renovated and is now in great shape. Classic Nicklaus risk/reward layout. Greens were in excellent condition. Great pro shop and grill. Very scenic. Put this one on your list.

I played Bear Trace on an extremely windy day and during winter rates. The course played nicely even though the course has not turned. The staff was extremely helpful and the restaurant staff was engaging and friendly. I can't wait to play the course again when the weather hits. The rates are fair.
