What people say about (Indian Springs Metropark Golf)

Lynn Merrifield

Indian Springs Golf Course continues to disappoint in ways that are hard to ignore. While the course itself has a beautiful layout with natural surroundings, the management and operations are falling short — especially compared to other Metropark courses. One of the biggest issues is the ongoing favoritism toward local regulars. If you're not a familiar face, don't expect fair treatment. Groups are getting reshuffled so the regulars can go off early or skip ahead, even if you booked your tee time in advance and arrived on time. Paying customers deserve equal treatment — not to be pushed aside for the “inner circle.” The condition of the course isn’t much better. Some bunkers haven’t seen maintenance in so long that small trees — six inches tall or more — are literally growing out of them. That’s not a minor detail. It’s a sign that routine upkeep is being ignored. Even worse, the grounds crew is out cutting the course during active play. Groups are being held up mid-hole while mowers drive across the course with no urgency and no warning. It kills the pace, disrupts rhythm, and shows a complete lack of planning. That kind of interference should never happen in the middle of a paid round. The kitchen is another letdown. While other Metropark courses have food hot and ready by the time early groups make the turn, Indian Springs is still trying to fire up the grill. If you’re hoping for a breakfast sandwich or anything hot before 9 a.m., good luck. Bottom line: Indian Springs is being left behind because of the operations and management. Between the favoritism, poor maintenance, disorganized groundskeeping, and slow kitchen, it’s just not worth the frustration anymore. There are better-run courses in the Metropark system where customers are treated with respect and the operation feels like it’s actually ready for golfers. Not sure I will be going back.

The traps have never been spectacular at Indian Springs but have always enjoyed the course layout and the price is right. Now all the traps are just marked GUR with spray paint. A notice on the website about course conditions would gave been nice. Hopefully they plan on adding new sand but not worth the price if having to get a daily pass to enter the park

My brother had a golf match here and unfortunately our experience was not a pleasant one. The course was over an hour from our house, so we called ahead to ask if spectators were aloud before doing that distance or making any plans. We spoke with Larry and he told us we could watch but we would have to walk because the carts would not be available. That was fine with us. I’m a mom, so I got a sitter for my baby so I could go watch him play and then made the long drive to the course. Upon arrival we were told there were no spectators of any kind allowed. The lady was fairly unapologetic and not helpful in terms of being sorry for their mistake or trying to make any means to rectify the situation. She asked if we called in advance and if we were the one who talked to Larry. We let her know we did call and had received permission from Larry. After hearing this she still didn’t allow it. Trying to figure out how would could make this work, we offered to pay for 9 holes just so we could walk along side them. (There are only two of us btw) We were again told no with no means of sympathy or understating that THEIR miscommunication cost me a sitter and three hours total of drive time, plus the whole time the match took which was spent in their clubhouse instead of on the course. The inconsistency is very unprofessional and the lack of attempt to somehow make amends for a big mistake on their part felt really rude. We couldn’t leave because it was so far from home and we had all come together, so we sat in the club house for several hours while the match took place. After sitting in the clubhouse for several hours, we were about to leave and right before we got up, the lady came up and handed us buy one get one golf couponsfor their course. Then she said sorry for the miscommunication and went back to the desk. Am I glad they eventually tried to do something?yes. Am I annoyed that it took multiple hours of sitting in their clubhouse before they tried to rectify the situation or be apologetic? Absolutely. If we had left or not stayed in the clubhouse that long, nothing would have been done to rectify the situation. That’s just distasteful in my opinion and unprofessional. This entire experience was very frustrating. Next time, either honor your word or rectify the situation immediately with whatever means possible. The mistake was on your end Indian Springs, and some how we were the ones that got burned. 2/10 please do better.
