What people say about (Railside Golf Club | Alder & Iron Restaurant)

Celia

I was a vendor at this wedding space. The grounds are gorgeous and the interior was lovely. That's where the good ends. Staff gave numerous tours of the event space while we were setting up and the photographers were doing photos. When asked if they could maybe have their lengthy conversations outside of the space so the people WHO HAVE IT RENTED can do what they need to do, we were met with attitude and said theyd just be a few minutes. Thankfully the couple that was touring caught on and said they would just go outside. Staff didn't allow for much as far as photography space. The golfers had free range and were quite rude to the couple and photographer and apparently Staff got very snippy with the photographers because their directions weren't clear enough. Food was okay. Gordon Ramsey would have thrown the risotto at the wall if he was there. The vegetables had zero seasoning. If the grounds weren't so gorgeous I would have given 1 star.

Professional burger. Great evening despite the mistakes. - Smashburger - $17: Not a true smashburger as it is too thick, but very good. High quality meat with the perfect amount of seasoning for a cheeseburger and cooked perfectly to medium specifications. I asked for an extra burger patty ($4 extra), but did not get it with the burger. There was a misunderstanding again and I received the extra burger patty by itself after I had finished the burger. I was not charged for it, though. The bun was fairly good and standard to a burger and had butter over top of it. My wife ordered the gluten-free bun, but they were out. She ordered the gluten-free bread instead. I took a bite and it was a higher quality gluten-free bread, slightly sweeter, and a good texture that matches regular good quality bread. You can still tell it is gluten-free, but it was up there. The toppings were higher quality and fresh. The bacon stuck out the sides which made eating it a tad difficult, but aesthetically appealing. The cheese was melted nicely. The mayo was the Oscar winning supporting actor. It has a house-made herb that was stupendous with a full bodied pepper and steak seasoning like flavoring. My wife ask for it without because she hates mayo, but it was put on anyway. She actually didn’t mind it in this case. Mistakes were made, but we were compensated with a discounted bill accordingly. They gave us half off on one of the burgers and did not charge for the second hamburger patty. The price of the burger is slightly on the higher end for what is out there, but it is definitely high quality, cooked very professionally, and delicious. I’d highly recommend it. - Fries (came with the burger): The fries are battered and tasty. Medium to high quality. They were plenty warm and stayed warm throughout the meal. They have a slightly thicker and crispier outside, but still plenty soft and easy to eat. They were slightly less salted which is not common so that is a plus. I definitely enjoyed them. They have a ton of gluten-free items and options. The bread was actually fairly delicious and high quality. Items include brussel sprouts, wings, jumbo shrimp, harvest greens, club cobb salad, tuscan ribeye, pork chop, salmon, and seasonal creme brulee (not available when we visited). Options where they are not gluten-free, but can be are parmesan artichoke dip, caesar salad, house salad, gluten-free bun and bread for handhelds, chicken tenders (wanted to try it), flatbread, steak frites, children’s steak, and pasta. - Service: Delightful and immediate. Our server was VERY engaged and attentive. Mistakes were made, but wherever they were, they were extremely careful and quick to correct. Our visit was still plenty enjoyable and a night away to relax. Thank you. - Atmosphere: Soft modern jazz played in the background. There was a fireplace inside and one outside on the patio. The landscaping was extremely well thought out. As a photographer, I see a LOT of ideas for composition and eye catching appeal. I’d love to come back and explore the grounds some time. - Conclusion: While there were mistakes made, overall it was delicious and enjoyable. I’d still highly recommend this place along with their burger and fries. Visited on a Wednesday at 7pm.
