What people say about (Canongate 1 Golf Club)

Christa Hinzman

We are here for our daughter’s GSGA two day tournament. She’s been playing in tournaments for many years and has played countless courses. This course is by far the worst course we have ever experienced. The cart paths alone are a huge liability. Someone is going to get hurt driving over some of the extentive damage. The bunkers have visible pipes in them and I’ll let the attached pictures of the greens speak for themselves. I’m disappointed that GSGA chose this course for an important tournament that required qualification for. They may not have known it was in such bad shape but hopefully they take note…… because we will never play this course again. The worst part of this experience is during the tournament, the girls group had to stand in the fairway waiting to hit on the green due to the club’s maintenance man spraying down the green. We motioned to him that we were in a tournament and he told my husband, “no, ten minutes”. Really? It was shocking. I write this review for awareness for anyone paying to stay in a hotel for a tournament along with a tournament fee. We are so disappointed.

I played the Roquemore course today and really enjoyed the experience. The course is very scenic with lots of water and old growth trees. The greens were in good shape overall, rolling true. The fairways were in good shape and the only issue I had were the bunkers - they were inconsistent but generally very little sand. It’s a great walking course - just over 8 miles and relatively flat. Unfortunately they lost power due to a fallen tree near the clubhouse so I didn’t get the opportunity to eat - but I’m very happy they just logged my member number and let us play.

The Tinman

Saw a ~70 year old man run over a rabbit on one of the cart paths, it popped like a balloon. He then scooped it into his club bag. I assume so he wouldn't get his membership revoked or something. 10/10 would watch again.
