What people say about (Citrus National Golf Club)

Andrew Miller

In my 42 years on this planet, this is easily the worst golf course I've ever played. Barely any grass on fairways, almost none on tees. Grass on tees was so bad a teed up on the side one time so I could keep my footing. It keeps getting worse every year. I won't go back until someone I personally know guarantees to me that it's ok. I wouldn't play this course for free. After 9, I went inside and asked for a rain check on the other 9. I went out to the parking lot and lit the receipt on fire. Please sell the course to someone who gives a crap, it used to be a good course with a nice layout.

Citrus National has some beautiful hole layouts and natural beauty lining the course. They have been working very hard the past months to improve the conditions after a harsh hurricane season, and it is truly showing. My last trip the greens were just aerated, and I expect those to be in good shape in the coming weeks. They have re-seeded the fairways, and you can visibly see where the new Bermuda is starting to root and grow. I can't wait to come back and play this course again and see the improvements as it is clear this staff has made it a priority to get this course in top shape in the future. I absolutely loved the view from my approach shot on either 15 or 16 (picture included). The staff welcomed us immediately, put our bags on the cart, and the driving range had balls in pyramids and ready to go. Pace of place was good (3 hour 30-minute round on a Thursday). Very easy drive for us from Tampa with against the grain traffic and right off the Suncoast Highway.

Nice people there, nice clubhouse and restrooms on the course, nice hole layout - but, they have no grass anywhere. None on tee blocks, greens, fairways ( had hole #2 closed). They must have lost their water supply or something. Too bad, has potential to be a nice course.
