What people say about (Shalimar Pointe Golf Club)

First off…. I read some recent reviews on here and almost didn’t play here… we ended up going out and I really enjoyed this course. It’s a Pete dye course and has and absolutely beautiful layout and is challenging and a bit tight on some holes. The course itself was in average shape but honestly for the price of 60 bucks in the Destin area it’s a bargain. They did aerate the greens recently and they were really bad and we knew that going in, but this course requires you to hit a multitude of shots…. Draws, lay ups and has a lot of risk reward… I would recommend it if you read this. Just don’t go there expecting the course to be in great condition because it is not. The staff was also great… and some of the members I chatted with. They replaced all the water lines and were expecting it to get in much better shape in the near future. Overall I would highly recommend this course it was a blast.

This golf course is convenient to Fort Walton beach but is not on good shape. The layout isn't terrible and the staff is super nice, but the course is not even close to being worth $83, even with golf on the Gulf coast being expensive. Honestly, I don't have super high standards as I just need good greens and grass in the fairways and tee boxes. Greens at this course were especially bad and the tee boxes were below average. Hopefully with the right level of focus, they can get some of the greens in better shape.

Course has a super cool setup that leaves you with several approach shots that force you to go at a green over water and other cool shots, but course is in dire need of repairs. Greens are half dead/dirt, fairways look more like rough, and pretty much all of the bunkers look like someone just took shovel fulls of sand and put them in a hole and then never really bothered to do anything else to them after that. It is one of the cheapest options in the area and the staff was very nice but, I’d suggest just spending a little extra and go to a course that is better maintained.
