What people say about (Shalimar Pointe Golf Club)

First off…. I read some recent reviews on here and almost didn’t play here… we ended up going out and I really enjoyed this course. It’s a Pete dye course and has and absolutely beautiful layout and is challenging and a bit tight on some holes. The course itself was in average shape but honestly for the price of 60 bucks in the Destin area it’s a bargain. They did aerate the greens recently and they were really bad and we knew that going in, but this course requires you to hit a multitude of shots…. Draws, lay ups and has a lot of risk reward… I would recommend it if you read this. Just don’t go there expecting the course to be in great condition because it is not. The staff was also great… and some of the members I chatted with. They replaced all the water lines and were expecting it to get in much better shape in the near future. Overall I would highly recommend this course it was a blast.

Terrible service in the pro shop. We called ahead to make a tee time and were booked for a foursome. We arrived and their system was down. They allowed us on the range to waste our time, we constantly checked in to see if the system was functioning, and they were not able to figure it out. Never gave us suggestions on what we could do. We watched three groups tee off and asked what they did. The finally told us the made tee times online, so we said we will do that. Then they said “oh if you would’ve paid 5 minutes earlier, you could’ve played but I just closed all the tee times.” So what you’re saying is you could’ve suggested that idea an hour before? But somehow failed to have the cognitive function to try to make this course money? Braindead individuals working in the pro shop. However the ladies in the restaurant were as nice as could be they.

This golf course is convenient to Fort Walton beach but is not on good shape. The layout isn't terrible and the staff is super nice, but the course is not even close to being worth $83, even with golf on the Gulf coast being expensive. Honestly, I don't have super high standards as I just need good greens and grass in the fairways and tee boxes. Greens at this course were especially bad and the tee boxes were below average. Hopefully with the right level of focus, they can get some of the greens in better shape.
