Big Cypress Golf Club

Played their South course in early May 2025. It is well maintained especially the greens. They are fast challenging and in excellent condition. Avoid shots to greens that put you above the pin, this course will punish you severely. There is a lot of water and bunkers as well. A bonus is that there is an abundance of wildlife on and around the course. I saw wild turkeys, large turtles, deer, sandhill cranes and an abundance of alligators all in just 18 holes. But the highlight was the video below. It's very unlikely you will see this guy but May is mating season so they throw caution to the wind. This guy is looks around 13 to 14 feet. So think about this video when you are hitting near some water with your back to the water. He disappeared once he made it to the pond.

This was a great course with challenges for all levels of golfers. My family had a great time. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the greens need to be cut more often and some tee boxes need some TLC. But other than that, great course with a nice range. I shot a 76.

For your first round you will have no idea where the proper shot lines are - so we played a forward set of tees with one or two less clubs just to find the right lines and angles to the greens. Course is in really really good shape for late February. It was the most 'jungle-like' environment I have played in - ever (wild bird sounds, alligators, water and cypress, etc.). Definitely worth it if you enjoy an interesting golf experience. Great value for the money!
