I've been playing this course a couple times a yr for many years. I've never been so disappointed. Paid $200 for a $40 course. Weeds everywhere. Course is horribly managed. Played with 2 members who said everyone is very unhappy with management. My buddy was going to look for a house in River Hall. Not anymore.
Was excited to play here and expectations were high with how pricey it is. I got here and had to get some balls since i was out. They charge $50 for a pack of Srixon balls which left a bad taste in my mouth right off the bat. It didn’t end there tho. I come out of the clubhouse to my cart to get ready to go to the first hole and in my cart is someone’s used cup and used scorecard. As i see this, i am being rushed by the starter to get to the first hole as i am having to clean up the cart for them. The starter came two times to tell me to get to the first hole so I’m not holding anyone up. After getting to the first hole on time - the starter comes again to tell me to put my hat forwards and tuck my shirt in. I’m not sure why this is necessary at a course that doesn’t even clean your golf cart for you. So after paying a premium price to play at this course, a premium price for balls, cleaning up my own cart, and rushing to the hole - i have finally started my day of golf on a terrible note. After playing the first 3 holes - i knew right away that i got absolutely robbed with how mediocre the course conditions were. Brown spots everywhere and greens were nothing to write home about. On top of this course being sub-par - they over book the course so that the course is backed up and your waiting long times to hit every hole and have people playing up your back. The only reason I gave this place a 2 star is because the back 9 is the nicer half of the course and feels like you’re getting robbed less. Will never touch this course again in my life.
I had a deeply upsetting experience at River Hall Country Club on Mother’s Day while golfing with my mom and grandmother. We were harassed repeatedly by a group of entitled male golfers who shouted at us, aggressively drove up on our group, and intentionally hit balls into us multiple times. It was not only hostile and intimidating but dangerous — especially considering the older and female members of our group. We left the course after just 10 holes because we no longer felt safe. I immediately reported it to the staff on duty, who apologized, promised a refund, and said they would escalate the issue to the general manager. Days later, I had to follow up myself. When I spoke to Jim Hafner, the GM, he acted completely unaware of the incident and was dismissive, apathetic, and unprofessional. He offered no apology, no solution, and did absolutely nothing to make the situation right. It’s now 2 weeks post incident and I’ve received no refund, no follow-up, and no indication that the men who harassed us were even spoken to. This kind of negligence, especially when it comes to guest safety, is completely unacceptable. Based on this experience, it’s clear that River Hall does not take harassment, aggression, or women’s safety seriously. The management is either incompetent or indifferent — either way, you’re on your own if something goes wrong. I would never return to this course and strongly recommend others avoid it. There are plenty of places to golf in Florida — choose one that actually respects its guests.
