What people say about (Royal Oak Golf Course)

I cannot justify here coming again. Walking into the course, the staff was very rude and unfriendly, and putting greens were atrocious. After teeing off, I noticed weeds everywhere and giant bare patches of soil in fairways. I came soon after rain, and there were giant patches of water everywhere and inside of the flag pole. On our very last hole, me and my buddy decided to have a little bit of fun and hit a few extra balls while we noticed the people behind were still on the last hole when the ranger hunted us down and very rudely told us that the group behind us has been complaining the whole time about how we were playing. I dont know why he would tell us on our very last hole while we were walking off if it was true, since we had been keeping our pace of play steadily ahead of them most of the course.

Great 9 hole golf course. The greens are country club level and course in great shape. 13 mile/Woodward location is great. Practice green and chipping area are perfect for warmup before round or just practicing. Staff is great, Ranger Eugene is such a great guy, he makes you smile every time we play there. Keep it up, great place!!!

I went there today. It was my first visit so I have not played yet - just wanted to check it out since I go to the driving range a lot next door. The course looked to be well maintained and about what I expect from an average municipal 9. I also like that they've been a local business since the 60s. However the pro shop and indoor area need TLC. Building is very old school and has a cool vibe, but at the same time is visibly dirty and smelled REALLY bad (mix of oldness and stale fry oil). They also had some old food items as decoration which were gross and needed to go in the trash. All of this really put me off while I was here. I could get around a lot of this just to go golf here on occasion but some effort to clean up would attract more younger patrons. This is important if you care about longevity of your business. Resident membership is still somewhat cheap but I'd have to pass.
