What people say about (Somerset Golf Club)

Sage S

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience. After spending the last few months going to the driving range, My partner wanted to take me out for my FIRST ever game of golf. On Wednesday, after it had poured all morning, we had a 3pm Tee time. Figuring that the course wouldn’t be busy after the rain. The groundskeeper said they only had one lady after us, that she was a good golfer but they were completely empty the rest of the night. We let the woman play through us out of politeness and then we tee’d off. At 3:07, remember our tee time was 3pm but we let a women play through, at 3:07 after we both hit our balls, the groundskeeper chased after me while my partner went to find his. “You’ve clearly never played golf before have you?” “No sir this is actually my first game of golf.” “Well had I known that, this would have gone entirely differently. It’s going to take you 3 hours to play this course at that rate and I can’t have that.” Proceeds to ORDER me to play a scrambler off my partners ball after not even 10 minutes on the course? Even if every single hole took 10 minutes we’d still only be there an hour and a half which is the recommended play time for this course. I am in complete shock and say nothing more to him because WHAT???? He then chases after my partner and proceeds to have a conversation with him too. We left not even finishing that first hole. I was INCREDIBLY upset and discouraged. This was my first ever experience of an actual golf course and I can see why the sport is dying. As a beginner, the Ranges have been NOTHING but positive and encouraging. We LIVE in this complex and still PAID to play the course and chose this course because it was small and local. I know with my lack of skills I have no business being on a professional golf course. But I take it seriously and am respectful. personally I will NEVER be coming here again and hope all beginner women interested in the sport avoid this course as well.

Would never golf here again; absolutely horrible experience. Do not golf here. Golfed a 9-hole twilight round and honestly not sure where to begin with the slew of bad experiences that occurred. I’m fairly sure we were charged the prime time rate instead of the twilight weekday rate. However, the overarching issue was the horrible attitude the woman working at the club house had toward our group. We were a group of mostly beginners, playing a week night twilight round with no one behind us, and yet this women felt the need to chastise us multiple times, even while teeing off on the first hole, that we couldn’t slow down the pace of play and needed to make sure we were done the round by 8pm. Her exact words were “this is not the time to be learning how to play golf, you guys are going to have to keep pace.” I have never experienced such treatment anywhere I’ve played. Not only was it unacceptable behaviour as is, quite frankly this course is no where near the quality or calibre where they could feasibly get away with acting like that. The greens were like hitting in shag carpet. Ridiculous. And guess what, we were pulling out of the the parking lot by 7:59 pm. What a joke of a course.

Great mostly par 3 course. Played here a couple of times. Staff has always been friendly to myself and my son who is learning. Their golf carts are really nice. Will be back!
