This was my first visit back since the tornado did its damage. I was only at the beach area, but was very pleased with how the area was renovated. The pavilion is big with lots of picnic tables and the bathroom was clean. We missed not having the dock to swim out to, but still had lots of fun swimming in the water and playing in the sand.
It really is beautiful. We took several hikes on the well-groomed trails. The view from our amply-sized room was peaceful on the nice big balcony. The desk staff was friendly. The lodge was undergoing some much-needed renovations in the rooms. The walls were dingy in our room, especially in the bathroom, but it seemed clean enough. I'm glad I called ahead to find out just what 'kitchenette' means to them (individual pod hotel coffee maker, mini-fridge, and microwave). We brought an electric fry pan. I would also recommend bringing your own coffee maker and coffee.
Camped with a group of scouts in the primitive site six months ago and absolutely loved it! Saw a couple of American Eagles and Beautiful Pelicans in the water. The bathrooms and showers were very clean, nice hiking trails and loved that there were water pumps and nice fire pits with grills in the primitive area. It was very cold but we thoroughly enjoyed it
