What people say about (Stoney Brook Golf Course)

I think the other reviews are unfair. if you are the type of golfer who plays Cider Ridge then this isn't your course! I'm not a great golfer and would feel out of place at a fancy course. It's not a high end course but it's in better shape than the other reviews say. I play here every year and have never had a bad time or experience with the people. They've always been nice to me and my friends. Can't wait for a free weekend to come back this year!

Where do I begin to describe how awful this golf course is? Lets start with the price, $32.50 with a cart. The price wouldn't be bad, but sadly you actually have to play the course. The tee boxes are unlevel, barren, and are in desperate need of repair and resodding. The fairways are in the same shape, dirt with very little grass. Sometimes, you will even find yourself in a patch of rocks. The greens are inconsistent, and are many times are like putting over a gravel road. The course has a very good layout, but sadly the owner chooses not to put any money into the course, and acts as the course superintendent. He is neither trained or qualified to be in that position, and the course shows for it. It looks as if the course generates a good profit, but the owners fail to invest the money into maintaining the course. It has a nice area for the driving range, however there is absolutely no grass, its unlevel, and the range balls are older than the course itself. You never see any of the staff working out on the course, leaving the course in almost an unplayable state. I hope you never get thirsty while you play, because the water coolers are always empty, and if you want to buy a drink in the pro shop, it is an outrageous price. I will say that they have very nice golf carts, but you better be willing to pay a pretty penny whether you are a member or a guest. All in all, this course is not worth the price for membership or for public play. You are better off driving a few more miles and playing one of the other local courses that actually keep the course in a playable condition.

If you're expecting to play at a place like Robert Trent Jones then you won't like it. However, this place is the perfect place to go for college students. $8 for 9 holes. That is the best deal for college students. This course is better than some of the other reviews say.
