What people say about (Hell's Point Golf Club)

Jason Stroud

This course is absolutely horrible. It’s the only course I’ve ever been to that won’t give you the cart key until your tee time. So no retrieving clubs with your cart, though they let you return them with your cart. No taking the cart over to the practice range. The conditions of course are what really make it horrible though. Yes, the area floods. Yes, it rained the night before. However, this doesn’t explain the dirt (elevated) tee boxes, the uncut grass, the climbs of crabgrass/weeds in the fairway, ruts everywhere, etc. Let’s not forget the concrete, I mean ‘sand’ traps. Now I know why it was the only course to have tee times available on a Friday here in Virginia Beach.

The price was not worth the play. The course is in almost laughable condition. The tee boxes are the worst I've played in many years, little grass and mostly sand/mud. One or two tee boxes would be understandable, but almost all of them were in this condition. The greens have crabgrass all over, as if little to zero maintenance is being performed. The greens dont look like they've been cut and rolled in quite some time, so prepare for that. It is also annoying you cannot drive your cart to your vehicle. This wasnt a deal breaker, just the icing on the cake after a miserable outing. The course has potential but it's clear the club is not being taken care of, so hopefully these things get corrected for your next round.

Someone needs to tell them they are NOT a country club . Hells Point management needs to accept reality. If they would portray themselves as a laid back beach course while on vacation I think the reviews would change for the better...letting wives/kids use clubs out of one bag, collared shirts (while watching dude in jeans on the range), keeping a key out of the cart when carts are literally parked in the parking lot, during midday NO balls to use on the range. NOW , the golf course. It's a goat path on sand , tee boxes are sand , the grass sucks, the greens suck, the course is clearly not maintained. Hells Point stop acting like a country club !!!!!!!!! Go to Virginia Beach National or Heron Ridge is the play while on vacation
