Pohick Bay Golf Course

Not for the faint of heart. I've only been playing for a year, and all the narrow fairways and blind shots were just way too much for me. And even with a riding cart, walking the steep hills to my ball (the ones I didn't lose, I mean) was a workout. It wasn't my idea to go here, a friend wanted to - and I won't be back until I get way better at golf. But the course is scenic, it was in good shape, the price is reasonable, the clubhouse was roomy with good A/C, and the staffers were nice.

We recently had the pleasure of having a business meeting golfing! This golf course is the most affordable one we have found in the Virginia area and the course is well taken care of! I would certainly recommend a visit if it’s your first time or you just trying to get a round in.

The course is decent, very woodsy, and no houses around so it's a nice quiet, be outside spot. 6 to 7 holes are blind tee shots and a lot of elevation change which takes some.getting used to, but once you know the course it's doable and is interesting. One of the closest courses to the Alexandria area and while it is overpriced it's not as overpriced as say a Laurel Hill. The weekend rate is around $75 which is cheaper than almost anything else so they can get away with it. This course is very hit or miss on condition, the tee boxes are never super, and the greens can be pretty rough at times but other times all is well. We played today with aerated and very sandy greens and they offered no discount for the very sub par golf course. There is a range but it's very below average. Extreme down hill and off of mats, although they did get some new mats finally. The range balls are hands down the worst I have ever seen, always filthy and some of the oldest and most random balls , dead, broken, and no dimples left on many of them. The putting green is solid and they have a small chipping green. Some simple premade grab and food in the shop and a basic selection of bottled drinks.
