Algonkian Golf Course

Great course. Narrow fairways and rough is not too deep. You would assume it is easy but it is a challenging and fun course to play at. Staff are great and pleasant and the facility is very well maintained….

This was a fun course, it's the first course that I paid to play in NOVA so I can't speak to it's value. It cost us 80 each for a foursome (cart included) to play at 1030 on a Saturday. Overall I enjoyed it, a good mix of long drives and light iron work. Some water hazards and sand traps keep things interesting although it's not a difficult course. Although I think Hole 15 should be a 5 par (but we just may be bad). Most importantly, they have some of the best hot dogs I've ever had at a golf course. Looking forward to playing here again many times

Terrible experience with the Starter, who didn't allow half of our group to start due to his own mistake, and was very combative. Starter's name was Tom, although he probably lied when I asked for his name. An old guy with white hair, stern face, and smokes cigarettes. Important context: I have previously worked at a Golf course, so I know exactly how things work and what power/decisions the Starter has and can make. I arrived before my tee time to meet my group of 4, who had already checked in for the four of us. I went inside to pay the fee, and by the time I came out the Starter had already sent 2 of my group with a 3rd random person. At this point it was exactly 3:50, which was also exactly my tee time. Half of my group was 10 feet away from me, still waiting on a group at Hole 1. I was told that because I was not in a cart 5 minutes prior, that he replaced half of us with a person who had a later tee time. I showed him my receipt to prove I was in fact there early, and that the other two had checked in, and he refused. He explained - combatively - that he had already committed to sending the 3rd person. Half of my foursome was still waiting to Tee off at Hole 1 about 10 feet from us, still he refused to go back on his decision. He claimed we had "forfeited our tee time". I showed him the receipt, plainly disproving that we were late. We checked in earlier with plenty of time, I just needed to pay! Still, he yelled and told me to talk to someone else. After talking with other staff, the best case scenario is half of us wait around and hope a later tee time doesn't show. I provided multiple solutions, still he refused and yelled. The other staff members were clearly afraid to challenge him. Finally, I called the other half of my group who asked the random 3rd to join the 3some ahead of them. I explained this and was finally allowed to join my RESERVED foursome. However, they were already on Hole 4! Two of us paid $50 each to play 6 holes that day. There were multiple solutions that I provided and that the Starter should have provided as well. Customer service did not exist that day. He refused to admit that he had made a mistake by altering the group PRIOR TO the tee time, and refused to find a solution. Extremely rude. DO NOT recommend to anyone remotely intermediate at golf, as you will be treated like nothing by the starter. Unfortunately, the other staff is not willing to challenge him.
