Providence Golf Club

I recently got back into playing golf and I’ve been to courses up and down the east coast and I have to say Providence is one of the best. The course is beautiful and somewhat challenging; the best part about it all is the friendliness of the staff and their stellar customer service. You can tell they really do care about their patrons, which goes a long way with me. If you want a great experience Providence is the way to go!! 5 Stars all the way no “Fore” stars here 🤣

This course is very well maintained. It's probably going to be our new go to place here in the Richmond area. For the price and the quality of the course it's a really good deal. They have a nice little clubhouse that at the turn you can always stop in and grab a hot dog, hamburger or whatever they have made up for the day. They also have a nice little Drive-In range and putting green you can do a little bit of practicing on. For just a hacker like myself the course provides some good challenge and holes, they do have some nice open Fairways and a number of holes that you need to be aware of where the water is. I know back in the day they won some awards I don't know if they're still at that quality but if not they're still pretty close. They tend to book up pretty quick so typically recommend if you're looking to play try to book early or give them an actual call at last minute I've had the clubhouse be able to work me in. If you haven't played here I definitely would recommend giving it a chance because if you have played here you definitely would be coming back.

4/5 UPDATE: (THE OWNER CALLED THE COPS ON A REPEAT CUSTOMER. Golfing at this place is a liability. My friend booked a tee time for today and while he’s warming up at the range prior to his round, two cops show up to ask him about Thursday’s interaction with the owner. The owner called the cops to ban him, simply for parking one cart width off the path while at the green. Image what they would do if you accidentally cause real damage to the course. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.) 4/3 - Most arrogant and unfriendly management I’ve ever experienced at a course. The course itself is decent but the guy that claims to be the general manager has an ego a little too big for his britches, we’ll call him buddy for now. I was playing a foursome with a group of friends Thursday. A local high school team was three holes ahead of us, no issues, good pace of play. We’re playing hole 4 and “buddy” is at hole 7 watching the high school group. We pull up to the green on hole 4 and I pull my cart off the cart path, one cart width just incase a cart girl or one of the high school team coaches needs to come by us while we’re putting. Here comes buddy hauling over from hole 7 to reprimand us like we just did a burnout on the green or something. My friend, whose cart happens to still be on the cart path points out that his cart isn’t in the grass. Buddy proceeds to stand up out of his cart and puff his chest and threaten to kick us off his course. Things settle and we keep playing. Now we’re at hole 8, no issues, no groups in front or behind us. Buddy sends another guys out, I think the actual general manager at this point, who was friendlier, but proceeds to ask my friend about the interaction with buddy. I’ve been golfing my entire life, I know good course etiquette and have never had an issue ever. Buddy could have asked nicely and said please stay on the path, we’re trying to get our grass to grow back in this small area, but instead wanted to puff his chest and show his ass. I will never play this course again. Thanks “Buddy”.
