What people say about (Evergreen Country Club)

Tyler Hunt

Evergreen is an amazing private club located at the foot of the Bull Run mountains in Northern Virginia. The course was in great shape for the month of December and was a good challenge. The greens roll true and fast and the fairways are wide making it a forgiving course with scoring opportunities. This is the most inclusive private club I’ve played to date as one can secure a tee time by staying at the inn on site. The members and staff were very welcoming and professional and made for a good last round of the year. I highly recommend playing this course if afforded the opportunity.

Evergreen Country Club in the fall couldn’t have been a more perfect venue for our wedding! The red maples around the stone garden and the 1st tee and 18th green made for some unbelievable pictures! Everything was beyond perfect for our special day and that all started with the event coordinator Desiree. She was there for anything we needed all day and made us feel so special! Booking it over a year and a half out, she was great with communicating and answering all of our questions. Leading up to the day, we felt no stress and all of the little details were taken care of! The entire wedding party stayed at the Inn at Evergreen right on property. It’s an amazingly beautiful historic Inn, and we were thrilled that everyone in our wedding party was able to be together in such a cool place! The ballroom is perfect for various wedding sizes. It didn’t feel empty at all for our 60-person wedding, but it can still comfortably fit many more guests. We decided on the buffet option because we wanted a more casual dining experience. We’re still receiving compliments from family and friends about how amazing the food was and how Evergreen was such a beautiful place for our wedding! We recommend Evergreen CC to any couples looking to have a beautiful wedding in a surreal surrounding with Bull Run Mountains in the backdrop. Desiree was wonderful, we couldn’t have asked for a better day!

Review of Evergreen Part 2/2 6. Sneaky pricing changes and unprofessional behavior. Two months before the wedding, the Day-Of Coordinator fee jumped from $250 to $1,000. When we asked for the original price to be honored, the GM responded with an email that seemed like it was for internal eyes only—defensive, condescending, and insulting. The level of disrespect was appalling. After more stress and the in-person meeting, we reached a compromise—but it never should’ve come to that. 7. Poor day-of coordination. Desiree, though helpful in advance, didn’t have much control during the actual event. Between the ceremony and reception, the wedding party had little idea where to go and not much clear guidance. No one was directing the timeline so it was a bit chaotic. You hire a coordinator so you don’t have to worry about these things on your wedding day. 8. $600 in wasted donuts thanks to carelessness. We had custom donuts made as take-home favors. Only half were put out (late)—the rest were forgotten back at the Inn at Evergreen. I noticed the number of boxes seemed low, but staff insisted everything was put out. By the end of the night, we were left with $600 worth of untouched, wasted donuts because they didn’t bother to double-check. 9. Overcharged for food—then ignored. The bridal party pre-ordered wraps (which were awful—dry and flavorless) for lunch. The day-of, we added chicken tenders, which were good, but the final bill showed 24 full orders for just two trays. They charged us $216 for a few platters. Ridiculous highway robbery. Seeing the final bill after the wedding, we were so drained, we just paid to be done with them. FINAL THOUGHT: This venue may be beautiful, but the staff, especially Hanna, will not treat you with care, respect, or basic hospitality. If you're not a country club member, expect to be treated like an afterthought. They added stress to every step of our wedding. We deeply regret booking here and strongly advise other couples to look elsewhere. There are beautiful venues out there that actually care about their clients—this is not one of them.
