Used to be more of a premiere course back in the day, but maybe with owner changes it went down to almost a joke. Thereis a least new management now and slowly they are making improvements. I played once last year and the greens were terrible. Lots of just dirt and scruff throughout, but I just played this past week and most are alot better. You can tell they have been working on them, I was highly surprised how better they were. Really the only true downfall of the course are their traps. Most are just mud pits or saturated with weeds. To be honest any time I hit in one I just picked the ball up and threw it out so I wouldn't wreck a club or my hands trying to hit it out. Wow plan we did see a group of guys working on a couple traps near a couple of the first holes so I would assume that's the next thing they're trying to better, but as of right now they're still in pretty bad shape. The course itself is fairly fun the fairways and tees are in really good shape. They have a few water holes and that's rather Scenic in a few places. I hope they can get it back up to Snuff. In the clubhouse they do have some items for sale clothes Etc, they have a decent little snack area with a full bar where you can get sandwiches, hot dogs something on your turn or at the end of the round. It's in a great location very easy to get to just right off of Interstate 95 or 295. I played on a Wednesday afternoon and 18 holes with cart was $57. I'm glad I played around there again this year just getting a feel of where they are with the upkeep of the course. I definitely will be playing there again this year and hopefully they will continue to be making improvements.
Overall good experience, food and beer are relatively cheap. For the prices of golf around the Richmond area, you would expect a bit more upkeep on the grounds, even if it is early in the spring, the prices should then reflect that. Cherry Blossoms are beautiful if you catch the course in the right season. Average golf, in peak course condition I can imagine play is immaculate, however, that has not been the case in my experience.
If you haven’t played the crossings this year, it’s definitely worth it. I was so disappointed with how bad the course got starting about 6 years ago, but couldn’t have been happier to see the course bouncing back when I visited today. Greens are running true and filled out, fairways, tee boxes, and rough are mostly filled in. The only thing that still needs some TLC are the bunkers, but you can tell they are putting a ton of work back into the course and it’s paying off. If you liked the course 10 years ago, you’ll like it again. It’s def worth revisiting! I played my round in 3 hours and really enjoyed it. Get out there again before it gets super busy again!
