What people say about (Windcrest Golf Course)

Paul Croteau (YoPaulieMusic)

As a new golfer (started playing 6 months ago), I've got mixed feelings about this course. Looked at tee times online and saw tons of openings, so we walked in on a Friday and grabbed a slot for two starting immediately. Guy in the office was nice, we chose to walk, push carts are free (albeit pretty ghetto condition). There were not many people playing, so pace of play was excellent. Very chill vibe, the golfers we met were all nice, all having fun, no one was uptight at all. Can't say the same for the marshall, he rolled up on me after a couple of holes and said "y'all need to keep the push carts off of the greens." Not friendly or polite, he looked ticked, like I called his haircut ugly. I politely responded something like 'yes sir,' and he seemed puzzled that I didn't return the same crap attitude and chirp back at him. I easily could have, because if you saw the conditions of the green you would have laughed in his face. (see photos - first picture is where the marshal griped, second green looks like it has serious deer issues, and the third is one of the many lunar surface sections of fairway, I think it was the 9th.) So, the crappy attitude I read about in earlier reviews held true today. That was the only time I saw him. There's something about some folk in Windcrest about having zero concept of courtesy or common sense politeness... Fee was $33 to walk 18 holes (weekend rate), the weekday rate is $18, which is much more representative of the course conditions. It is unfortunately that such a potentially charming course has been so horribly neglected by the city, it could be a really nice place to play. The pictures on the web site are about as accurate as most realtor glamour shots. The course is flat, no hills, not much water, some interesting dog legs to play, most of the holes are straight. If your driver shoots left, I suggest you reign it in because there are homes around three sides of the course and one could easily break a window or hit a car. Will I go back? Absolutely, since my game stinks and I need to learn somewhere without breaking the bank. But if you are used to country clubs or green grass in general, you will not be happy playing here at all.

Buddies took me golfing for the first time ever. I’m decent for a new person, the 9 holes were nice and convenient. The part that killed it for me was that some older lady drove up on a cart raging and yelling at us about proper etiquette. The course fairway was a mix of grass and dirt. It’s not like we were messing it up. Very rude of her and I wouldn’t approach customers that way. Easy way to make sure we never return. There’s a polite way to give advice.

not sure how this place got any stars, much less 5. Best thing is no waiting to get on the course. Can't really decide which to rank lower, the tee boxes, the greens, or the fairways. Pace of play is good because no one is on the course. Best save your hard earned money rather than think that this classifies as a golf course.
