The golf course is in great shape. Staff is great, especially in the club house. The views upon view upon views at this course are amazing. Was part of a smaller tournament this weekend and love the kindness of the staff and how well organized everyone was. Loved playing this course and will return and hope to take others.
As a player the GM asked me to give an honest review so here it is: We played Wednesday late morning. This was my second time to Canyon West. First off, the customer service is top notch. Jonathan the GM was on site talking to customers, out on the course to see how everyone is doing. He is very concerned about the quality of the course and I really appreciate that. The service staff from the pro shop to the cart girls is the best. Food was really good and very reasonably priced. The greens fees are VERY reasonable. The course is getting better. The greens were punched recently and the first few holes were VERY slow. But the super nice guy on the mower got ahead of us and freshly mowed the greens. After that they rolled at a good average speed. Nice and flat not super bumpy. The water features are a little stagnate, there's some dirt patches here and there in the fairways but overall it's a beautiful course. It's a little short even from the blues so it won't help your handicap much, but it's a fun course. It will only get better now that it is under new management as of Feb 2024. If the conditions improve like I know they will, I will be back every couple months for sure. If I lived closer than 1 1/2 hours away I'd play it once a week.
Played on 10/9/2024. I have played this course over the past 15 years, so I've seen it's ups and downs as far as course conditions. I really like the course layout, and when it's in good condition, I think this course is a great place to play. When the wind gets blowing, some of the elevated tees can really challenge your ability to guess which club to use. Unfortunately, it still has major issues with its greens. They were covered in sand, and not just a little top dressing. It looks like they just throw sand over any dead areas, and that includes tee boxes. The bunkers were decent, didn't have any issues with them being either hard, or lacking sand. The fairways were in better shape than I've seen in the past. They have new GPS carts that were really nice. Probably some of the best I've ridden in and the GPS features with flyovers, green preview, etc were really cool. Water was available on the course that actually tasted decent. If the greens were in perfect condition, I'd give this course a 4.25/5.0 rating. Unfortunately, right now, I would be generous at 3.5/5.0. I hope management reads this and continues to improve this course. I just call them like I see them so that other players can get honest feedback of what to expect.
