What people say about (Pecan Valley Golf Course)

Albert Perez

Played Pecan River today very disappointed in the course. Greens are very slow so was pace of play. The fairways were in poor condition had left clippings all throughout the fairways at times you had to look for the ball. Sand traps were not managed grass growing in most of them. Branches down throughout from past storms seemed to be there for a period of time. No one working on the course. I know why the price was as reasonable as it was to play. I thought with all of the rain to give it a chance regardless what the reviews were that were posted. Should have known better. Save your money.

There are 2 golf courses here. One is the river course and the other is the hills course. I played the river course. I could see that the course was a nice course; however, on the morning that I played there was a storm that passed and had left the course pretty well damaged. Big trees were uprooted or had been split in two. There was limb and leave debris all throughout the course. Because of prior rain storms the fairways were not mowed and the grass was tall. I'm sure that when the course is cleaned up that it is a very nice course. Lots of trees. They had a bridge out that made them change the course. There was a detour and a par 5 that was changed to a par 3. I am anxious to play both courses in the future. Prices were comparable and they have a snack bar for food and drinks.

Do not waste time or money playing here. Not really sure what the city has planned for this course or property but if they are just going to keep letting it go the way it is they need to just shut it down. This course isn’t worth more than $10 to play. You shouldn’t even have to pay for a cart considering they are gas powered and in the worst possible condition with brakes not working, seats with huge cuts in them etc. I don’t even think they have a grounds crew. Fairways aren’t mowed so you can hit a perfect drive and you’re hitting out of rough. Anything out of the fairway and your hitting off of dirt or ground under repair. The holes were the worst cut holes I’ve ever seen and someone in our group said the pins have been in the same locations for 3 weeks. Number 16 is a par 4 “under construction” that they have playing as a 260 yard par 3 to a completely sanded temporary green the size of a Fiat car. 95% of bunkers were completely trashed or unplayable and the playable ones had rocks and branches all over them. The range is trashed. The city needs to shut this course down and completely re-do it or just shut it down completely. Was a decent course before/during Covid. Not sure what happened.
