Update: I've played all 18 since, and I'll stick with 4 stars. Good layout but greens in late June were slowish. Houses are set back far enough to not be annoying. Four stars for a public course is a fine status, mind you! FYI, I'm not giving 5 stars just because I didn't play the course; should I in the future I'll revisit this review. Every employee I interacted with was friendly. Guys in the pro shop were great (thanks, Billy!). I used the practice facilities & they were very good. Good turf to hit from on driving range (target distances unmarked though) & around chipping area, good practice putting green. The chipping green could have used a little more space around it to practice longer pitches, & the practice bunker had very shallow sand (that could be the same as the course bunkers, though, in which case it would be appropriate). Practice balls (yellow) were fine.
Best golf course around! Be sure to ask for Mike Adock, the head golf professional—he’s the best in the business. Super knowledgeable, incredibly helpful, and the guy who makes everything happen. The greens have been looking fantastic lately—top-notch maintenance and a great experience all around!
Played here today, great course for the heat of Texas Summer. Like many other people stated, the Marshall pushes you even when playing under pace of play. We were on the fairway of hole 18, and the Marshall asked us to speed it up when we hadn't even hit the 4 hour mark. As a group of 4, we were trying to be mindful of time and the groups in front and behind us. Nevertheless, still a fun, and great course. Just be prepared for the less than friendly staff.
