What people say about (Timberlinks Golf Club)

Brent Baker

I enjoy the elevation changes and the ability to get a last minute tee time. It’s got to be the most difficult course in the state when it comes to almost zero rough fringe. If you’re not on the fairway, it’s a drop. Forget about finding your ball and hitting from the off the fairways. The prices are good and it’s literally the only track in Denton. I sure hope to see the fairways improve but I’ve not seen any work to fill the holes or add grass to all the bare locations in the fairways. They are working to improve the greens but they have got to water and fertilize a lot more.

The course is challenging with very narrow fairways and lots of blinds. The fairways were not in the best of shape, very dry, but the greens were in good shape.

Timber Links has potential, but right now it's a rough experience. The layout is crammed around an apartment complex with tight landing areas and exposed rock just beneath the surface of the fairways. Even after a month of heavy rain, the course is full of bare spots and barely playable. With 100*+ temps, it'll only get worse. And I am not sure why they think they will ever be able to grow the fairways on top of rock. It would take removal to ever have a chance at playable surfaces. The greens show some improvement from my last visit but are shaggy and painfully slow. Fairways are so rocky that clean lies are rare, and your clubs and golf balls are at constant risk of being scuffed. Expect slow rounds thanks to the tough layout and high volume of beginner golfers. Staff is friendly and the monthly raffle is a nice touch, but with the conditions and amount they are charging it is absurd. You and your money would be better off at any other course in DFW. I honestly believe they would be better off just turning this into a par 3 course, they have a good piece of land and could make some interesting holes. But top priority should be shutting down in order to renovate and remove all of the rocks under the course.
