This course use to be nice, well kept and fun to play… not anymore, tee boxes, be carful you might roll an ankle. All of their bunkers are like pavement the wait time on tee boxes are like 10-15 min each hole because it gets backed up and staff doesn’t care about pace of play. The greens have loose grass clipping and some actually have muddy spots on them. This is the course you send your kids to go play. I’d definitely recommend picking one of the full length courses around town.
I live in one of the houses next to the course. The last 4 years the customers golfing here have become hostile and aggressive to the residents, and Oakway does nothing about it. Instead of reminding their customers that they are playing golf in peoples backyards and to be respectful of the area they say nothing. Sitting down at dinner with the family and people outside with boom boxes blaring music with so many racial slurs shaking our walls. At this point we have to resort to calling the police when these people climb over our fence into our property to get a ball, one of these days its not going to end well for the golfers trespassing and being disrespectful to the community. The golf course doesn't care, they are on the verge of bankruptcy so they will do ANYTHING to stay open. This golf course has become hated in the last two years, the management and owners just do not care about the community they are running be not setting rules for behavior when they are IN PEOPLES BACK YARDS.
On May 15, 2025, I was enjoying my time playing golf at Oakway Golf Course when Brad, the front desk manager, approached me in his cart and aggressively asked, "What are you doing?" I suspected he was questioning me about replaying the course without paying. I quickly explained that I was playing with a buddy who suggested we skip holes 10, 11, and 12 because we had spent 20 minutes waiting on holes 7, 8, and 9. We checked out hole 13, where there wasn't a single player, nor on hole 12. We quickly played the back holes 13-18 without any issues or waiting, and I explained to Brad why we did what we did. He continued to badger me with comments like, "Is this what you do at other courses?" I quickly told him that he was out of line for attacking me for doing nothing wrong; I was just finishing the holes I had already paid for. I then told him that I would never return to this course and had never seen anyone be so aggressive or accusatory as he was towards me and my friend. Being in business myself for over 25 years, I recognize when someone is being unprofessional and inappropriate, like Brad, the front desk manager at Oakway Golf Course. I witnessed Brad's inappropriate and rude behavior towards another patron in the past when I first started playing three years ago. Brad didn't have to ask me to leave; I left willingly after being treated so poorly and will never play Oakway Golf Course again. ZERO stars!
