Had the worst experience at this golf course today. Had two groups of 3 playing and no one on the course, some “off duty marshal” tried giving us a lecture about playing 6 then got between our group with his two kids and held up the entire course until there were people behind us. Then they had a maintenance guy follow us the entire back 9 to make sure we didn’t play 6s but let a group of 8 play together. Then they turned the sprinklers on us when we were on the green. Would never go back and if you want to play with a group you should avoid this course.
Course is in great shape! Greens are running fast. We love this place. Hidden gem. Great staff and nice pro shop. Highly highly recommended!
For a state park course, LMGC is a much better setting then say Chickasaw Point and compared publicly to Perkins or OKC Hefner courses. It’s about 2 stars but can’t give it 4 although it was a good track. The course : Tee boxes on half the holes were pretty stubborn. Fairways were pretty good overall and despite the heat we had great lies all day. The greens are very small as you’d expect from a state park setup and were better than most city courses. The layout has a few doglegs like 1 and 10 and it’s a great track overall. Only 2 holes have water to somewhat negotiate , yes 1 and 10. After that it’s a very fair layout and is over all a pretty nice setting about a mile from Lake Murray. Ball washers need to be replaced, signage needs to be vastly updated and even displayed as we had some holes with no markings and the ball washers are just antiquated and not good. Cart paths were broken in many places. Some portable outhouses on course were placed for relief. And we saw no cart girl and no water on course anywhere. That’s a big minus overall especially on a hot day. The clubhouse has a very little stocked area for apparel and golf items and a mini snack area for drinks but nothing more. Outside the clubhouse is rundown and needs a ton of attention. 2 players for $93 and gas carts with zero amenities overall is what you get. No resort feel but no city course feel either. This facility could be a premier setting with the beautiful lake nearby. But it needs a better maintenance team to clean up the course and upgrade the golf related items like signage and ball washers etc and a better clubhouse and you have yourself a gem of a place.
