What people say about (Moore Golf & Athletic Club)

Margaret Castro

We’ve been members at the club for over 10 years, and unfortunately, the recent changes have been disappointing. The addition of key card access to the gym after hours could have been a welcome upgrade, but instead, members are now required to pay an extra fee for a card- something that should be included as part of the membership. We also learned this week that the pool no longer has an attendant, nor are towels or water provided Monday through Thursday. Members must now visit the pro shop daily for a code that changes every day- an unnecessarily inconvenient process. The food menu has also been significantly reduced. What was once a more diverse and kid-friendly selection has now been narrowed down to just a few options- many of which lack quality. For example, the sandwich meat is noticeably poor. If the menu is going to be this limited, the food should at least be consistently good. This is especially frustrating during summer, when many moms and kids rely on the poolside menu for convenience. Additionally, spaces that were once available for member events have either been eliminated or drastically changed. The large indoor room, previously available to rent for parties, is no longer an option. The poolside gazebo, which we used to reserve for a full day at $100, now costs $150 or more for just a two-hour block. Staff interactions have also become increasingly inconsistent. While there are a couple of familiar faces who are always polite and welcoming, several others are routinely unpleasant and unprofessional in their interactions with members- something that greatly affects the overall atmosphere. Despite growing memberships- there has been no visible effort to scale amenities accordingly. The pool, in particular, has become increasingly crowded, and additional seating will be necessary to comfortably accommodate everyone. The condition of the facility is another ongoing concern. The gym equipment is extremely outdated, with no racks, very limited dumbbells, and only two benches-one of which is broken. The carpet appears worn, and the furniture throughout the club is extremely dated. No new pool loungers or tables have been added in years. While the interior looks noticeably run-down, it is at least kept clean. The same can be said for the pools and restrooms- they’re typically well-maintained, but the facilities themselves are far past due for updates. Although we have an unlimited golf membership, we primarily use the gym and pool- and even those have become frustrating to navigate. It’s disappointing to see the club move in this direction after over a decade of loyalty, and we are seriously reconsidering whether it’s still worth the investment.

Good course. Big practice green and good driving range. Chipping and bunker area is nice too. Greens were aerated about a month ago but should be ready for summer play. Nice clubhouse and a very nice pool and grill. They also have a fitness center.

Ripoff bait and switch. I first inquired months before relocating to the OKC area. It was the only club that offered month to month membership so I chose to rent a home in Moore. After arriving we took a tour and were told again that month to month gold membership was an option (nice man, lots of tattoos , don’t remember his name but he works in the golf pro shop). We were referred to Jason to seal the deal and told our round of golf would apply to our first month so we made a tee time and played, got rained out on the 12th hole but decided to join anyway without seeing the rest of the course. That was when a third man in the pro shop told us there was a requirement to sign up for a whole year. We are very disappointed that the staff there does not seem to be on the same page regarding memberships . I called a few hours later and spoke with Jason and he was firm on the annual requirement. Buyer beware. No wonder there was no one there. Not just the weather. The place was literally empty.
