I just tent camped here with my dog en route from Montana to California. It was an awesome experience!! well shaded campsites that are also well-separated and private. Lovely creek running through even in August. Free and wonderful! Clean restrooms (saw them being cleaned in the am even!) and nice hiking trail here; easily reached from hwy 80. Highly recommended. Saw the sheriff on the way out, which is fine by me, I was actually kind of glad they patrol up there cuz it could easily turn into a loud party scene. Bring your own water.
Drove up here by chance while traveling. What a special place! Great camping spots, clean bathrooms. Can’t wait to go back.
I so hope to give this area a 'five', but honestly it missed a bit. First, the good. The site is beautiful, and if you get a shady spot, it's awesome being along the creek. There are dumpsters and vault toilets at intervals, so that's great. The trail running through the area is very nice. And the bugs were manageable. Sure are a mix of back in and pull thru. The bad comes down to only one item: traffic! Through the afternoon and evening, we had a stream of motorcycles, ORVs, trucks and cars running up and down the road. The bikes were also hitting the trails above the area. Nobody was rude or threatening, but it was a little annoying. All said, I'll stay there again, but will pick my site more carefully
