This golf course is incredible! The tee boxes are beautiful, the fairways (except for two) are like carpet, and the greens will destroy you with the slopes. Three cheers for not looking for your ball in the rocks! Don't even try.
I would give it 3 stars today, but the staff was great and the facilities are great. The course was in pretty bad shape, definitely bumping the balls in the fairways a good part of the time-not horrid, but not great. The real bummer was the green speeds though. They looked healthy, however the grass is long and they might be running at an 8, maybe even down to a 7. Not sure what their issue is, other courses in the area like Boulder Creek are still pure and running at good paces for summer time. I am sure I will play it again someday, hopefully when it is in top shape.
Rio Secco was the fourth course on our trip, and the perfect spot to finally pull out the driver and let it rip. After tighter layouts earlier in the tour, this course felt wide open and freeing—long, scenic, and built for power. The layout is beautiful, weaving through desert terrain with stunning views and even a glimpse of the Vegas skyline in the distance. Every hole offered something unique, and the overall experience was top-tier. Great pace, great conditions, and a perfect blend of playability and challenge. Definitely a highlight of the trip.
