What is going on with the greens and tee boxes? Greens are patchy and covered with weeds. Really takes the joy out of the game when you have to multi putt almost every hole just because of how badly it’s been maintained. I grew up playing this course and it has been off and on with quality, but the last round made the course come on top for worst maintained I’ve seen of the 10 courses I’ve played throughout the country.
Was looking forward to playing as the course sits next to a state park. The layout is actually very appealing however, the condition in late Spring was terrible. With ample moisture, the fairways were sparse but a course should always be rated by the fairness and condition of the greens first. When my daughter and I played, I’m not sure when the last time was a mower touched the greens or when the cups were changed. If all else fails but a course has very good greens, a lot of other things can be forgiven. So disappointed because this course has a ton of potential to be a hidden gem. Maybe it’s budget, lack of a true superintendent/greenskeeper, ag knowledge, a combination? But unfortunately until attention is given to this beautiful piece of real estate, it will be Warrensburg or even Lee’s Summit/Blue Springs/Independence
As you can see from other recent reviews this course is horrible and definitely not worth a penny. I have been to this course a handful of times and after today I will never be back. I found out that I have been getting charged $10 extra each time I have gone. The greens are horrible and “bunkers” are even worse.(See pictures) I would recommend everyone to UCM National Golf Course. A few extra bucks, but a beautiful course with people that actually know what they are talking about. Most importantly they are honest.
