What people say about (Emmett Till Interpretive Center)

I try to see any and all places in the NPS. This is a small place with a few exhibits telling about the sad story. The courthouse across the street is available to walk through. The courtroom itself though was locked. Benjamin is awesome!

If you want to see the real Emmitt Till museum you must go to the one in Glendora, MS. I was confused to why the same museums were so close together BUT Mr. Thomas explained how this happened. They were originally supposed to invest in the museum in Glendora, but some, most likely racist individuals, came up with the bright idea to open this one in Sumner which is really not a museum if you ask me. And the statue of Emmitt Till was supposed to be at museum in Glendora but is in Greenwood which makes absolutely no sense. I love visiting museums and this to be one of the saddest I have come across. They just have boards on the wall, 2 videos and 2 interactive modules which I have never liked. I wasn’t impressed at all and stayed 5 minutes. The worker was very friendly and stated that I could tour the museum on my own. Honestly there was nothing to see and when I arrived in the last room there was a pillow and blanket in the back!!! Smh So basically what has happened is the NPS didn’t know any better and invested in this place instead of investing the money in the museum that already existed in Glendora. Why?? Because the people in Sumner, MS are just as racist and backwards as they were when Emmitt Till was slaughtered like an animal and they found the 2 men NOT GUILTY!! I recommend that you don’t waste at this museum!! You can view my photos and have a full tour!!

Benjamin and I spent a full hour easily engaged in conversation. The gamut of our discussion was our understanding and views of the seemingly simple question: why? I was transported back to being in my freshman year and I were taking history classes from my favorite history teacher. As Benjamin spoke, I was fascinated and listened to virtually every word or idea like a human sponge. Unassuming in his gentle demeanor, you immediately get the sense that he's a Ph.D. In many ways, he exceeded many Ph.Ds. Benjamin, extraordinary! Vr Adam
