Great place to come exercise and get outdoors. Nice tracks to run, walk, or bike on. Playground for the kids, softball, and soccer fields to watch games on. The grounds are very well maintained, clean, and manicured.
Loved the shaded picnic tables and the variety of playground equipment. The flowers were a lovely touch as well. Lucked out finding this park on our way to Kentucky so grandkids could have a play break and eat a snack
5* review for having a disc golf course! Players Grove DGC. Senatobia Sports Park DGC. Sycamore Park DGC. These are all different names for this course that I found when researching it. This course sure doesn’t have a shortage of names, but do you know what it does have a shortage of? Me making putts!! And unfortunately, for me, that is the name of this course. If the disc golf phrase “drive for show, putt for dough” was ever the slogan of a course, this is it! I digress. I happened upon this small sports complex course while traveling with my Wife. Previously, I had never been to Mississippi so I was excited to be able to play a round of disc golf in MS. This was not a disc golf trip, so I only wanted to get in 9 holes, but it worked out nicely because this is actually a 10 hole course with the bonus hole. At first glance of this course, I could tell that the park was well maintained and I am pleased to report that the dg course itself is also well maintained. The signage is great, and the baskets are in great condition also. The tees are rubber mats, so not the most common type of tees, but good tees nonetheless. As for the play of the course, some of the transitions from one hole to another were a little odd for me. For instance, you start on a hole that is less than 150’. Then you immediately go to a hole that is over 350’. I’m not saying this is a bad design by any means, just simply stating that it felt a little odd to go from such a short hole immediately to one of the longer holes. With that being said, I missed my putt on Hole 1 and didn’t get what I initially thought of as a “gimmie” birdie, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. After these two open holes, you go into a section of the course where the majority of the wooded holes are. I am from TN so these were lightly wooded holes in comparison to what I am used to. There are definitely lines to hit on these lightly wooded holes, but a missed line won’t necessarily take you out of birdie contention if you can put. As I mentioned earlier, I couldn’t hit a putt to save my life on this course so I carded an embarrassingly high amount of pars on this course. Par’s aren’t bad, but on a good putting day, I could see me getting the birdie on nearly every hole on this course. I guess that’s what I get for playing a round after being in the car for around 8 hours. Really the only negative thing that I would have to say about this course is that there are a couple holes back to back on the tail end of the course (8 and 9) that play very similarly. Meaning the basket is straight in front of you, the fence and interstate are on your left and there’s not really much in your way on the right side. For me, they play like nearly the same hole with the exception of being different distances. I get that this is what the park property allowed, but I would have liked to see that beautiful raised basket on 7 (that is an awesome course feature!) be on either hole 8 or 9 just to give the holes another small difference. Again, I am only mentioning this as if I absolutely HAD to list something negative about the course. The holes are fine. But that’s just it, they are just fine. Of course I have to mention the 10th bonus hole in this review which I think was a nice little addition to the course. Typically, I like to see courses have either a 9, 18, 27 and so on layout, but in this case, I liked the addition of the 10th hole. It’s a fun short hole which honestly gives a near signature hole vibe. In closing, this is not a course that I would travel to again, or even stop by in my travels, but I did enjoy my time there. The course designer(s) did a nice job in keeping the course well out of the other park amenities, and there were some fun memorable holes. I just suggest that you do some putting practice before your round here so you don’t leave the course feeling like the course played you instead of you playing the course.
