What people say about (Southgate Golf Course)

Lucas Lesperance

Course is a well maintained and fun course to play. We enjoyed our time here while playing. My issue was the pro shop service. We paid $16 for what we thought was 18 holes. Turns out, we only paid for 9. We were told to play another 9 we would need to pay $6. We asked for a receipt of what we paid for earlier and then he began to yell at us and refuse conversation about what happened. I am very disappointed because every other time we came here the pro shop service was great. Would not recommend.

Great little hideaway par three. Course is well maintained for a public course. Very challenging part 3's with a couple par 4's. Nice Little patio for 19th hole. Food is affordable and really good. Cost of 9 at Twilight was $24 for 2 people with a cart. Ended up playing 13 holes.

This is a short course with three par 4s,(Holes 1, 10, and 18) and the rest par 3s. The par 3s are all straight, with varying distances from the further or the two tees between 130-180 yards. I think for the price it’s a good value and definitely a place to work on your short/iron game. We played in just under 3 hours walking on a Sunday starting at 12:15p. This course does not require a cart, and quite honestly, probably only slows pace down and creates more wear on the course, but I digress/understand, people want to drink a cooler of beer and bring their boomboxes. Regarding pace of play and the fact it is a municipal course, the family that teed off after us was 4 or 5 holes behind us when we were making the turn to 10 - you will have some beginners out here so be patient or kindly ask to play through. The fairways needed some attention to an apparent mole or vole problem in some areas. Greens were good besides the common muni issue of ball marks on the and cups that were set far too high with their metal rims just below the putting surface. Tough to say if I would come back. The fact you essentially can’t hit driver, maybe on holes 10 and 18, makes it less than desirable. But then again, golf is what you make of it, and if you need the practice and are on a budget, this may be a better than banging 100 balls for $20 of a mat at your local driving range.
