What people say about (Sanctuary Lake Golf Course)

Marcello Mancini

Honestly used to be one of my favorite courses, challenging, well maintained for a great price. The past two years have been not great between continuous price hikes, and less time between tee times leading toward slow pace of play. 5.75 hours on average as of recently. The kicker is the practice area, for sub par grass you can pay $18 for a bucket of balls… that’s insane. If you’re lucky the grass tees are open, but more often than not it’s the mats and still for $18. I don’t know why people would keep coming back.

4 Hours and 45 Minutes to play 14 holes and I decided to leave. It took an hour to play the first 3 holes. This is on a Tuesday at 12:30 pm. I understand it is a public city course and golfs popularity has expanded greatly, bringing in people of all skill levels. That is even more of a reason someone should be monitoring pace of play to some degree. I know 4 hour rounds on a public course is a thing of the past, but slow play approaching 6 hours is unplayable. Hopefully some changes can be made as it seems like a common theme in the reviews, however with packed tee sheets and increasing prices I'm assuming thats a long shot. It's a shame because for a city course the elevation changes and links style course is fun to play.

Longest round I think I’ve ever played. When I came in for my round I was talking to the starter who informed me that there times were running late by about five minutes and we were looking at a five hour round minimum. I was pretty shocked that they were willing to openly admit to bad pace of play, but was even more shocked when my round took 6 hours. At one point, we had 4 groups on one tee box waiting to tee off, and not a ranger in site. I enjoyed the course, it was a very fun design and was in relatively good shape for May, but a 6 hour round is unacceptable and is the reason I will likely not be back.
