You get two different course styles; - links for the front 9 - up north style on the back Course is in great shape with the greens rolling fast and true. It’s a good value with friendly staff
The golf course is great, but this review is about the pro who gives lessons there -- Steve Saary. I am an "elder" golfer who used to play pretty decent golf, but recently struggled with my swing. I took a lesson from Steve the other day and cannot say enough good things about him, his expertise, his patience, and his teaching approach. His analysis of the problems I had encountered in my swing was spot-on and he had me back on the right path before the end of the lesson. It was so good, I signed up for his package of 5 lessons at a remarkably reasonable price. Another important thing that became evident during the lesson is that Steve was thoroughly invested in helping me improve and there is no question that he has great interest in seeing his students do well. I recommend him without hesitation and without qualification.
Calderone is one of the best values in Southern Michigan. The $40 twilight rate is a steal for the quality. Fast, smooth greens, well-kept fairways, and solid pace of play. The elevation changes give the course real character. Steep slopes lead to tough lies and some wild bounces, but it makes the round more fun and memorable. Calderone could easily charge $100 or close to it. Definitely worth the trip for me. 5/5.
