What people say about (Moose Ridge Golf Course)

Matt Crane

A tier golf course. Played 18 on a Thursday morning for 65$. Every tee box, fairway, and green were near perfect. My #1 complaint is the Golf carts. These smart, GPS tracked golf carts were the most awful thing I've ever delt with at a golf course. The minute you go near an area where carts aren't allowed the cart goes into a limp mode. The problem with this is not every area is marked where carts can't go. So I go down a steep hill and the cart goes into limp mode and forces me to back up. The problem is, the grass was too wet and the hill was too steep to back up. Nothing was marked that I couldn't drive the cart in this area, it's often a guessing game to see what your cart will let you drive on. This wouldn't be a problem if fairways were clearly marked, but in my scenario they weren't. I would drive on open fairways and the cart would all of a sudden go in limp mode, no signs on fairway warning me. Other than carts, everything else was great at this course. Management needs to ease up on the cart rules.

Let me preface this review by saying that I played Moose Ridge in '23, and absolutely loved the course. It has a terrific layout and was in top-notch shape just two years ago. I was looking forward to going back, which we did yesterday. And what a disappointment. The course was in TERRIBLE shape. Some of the worst green conditions I've seen of a course that charges more than $40 a round. Hundreds of scarred ball marks. Every single par-3 tee box was absolutely destroyed (see picture). It's as if they don't use any seed in their divot sand. Before too long, there won't be any grass left on the boxes. Also, good luck with the carts. They lock up for being in "restricted zones" when you're in the fairway! On top of that, the extremely young staff was inattentive and had no guidance (I didn't observe a worker over the age of low-20's). I have no issue with employing high school and college kids, but you'd expect to see a head pro, assistant pro, or experienced professional during a Friday afternoon round. There was no starter (which led to a free-for-all at the first tee), and not a single ranger. I did speak with a worker that indicated the course was under a new management group and had a new superintendent. Not sure if that's the problem, or if they are trying to fix the current issues. Irregardless, there are at least a dozen other courses within 30 minutes that will offer a far better experience for the cost. Needless to say, we won't be making a return trip after the disappointing trip.

We had a wonderful experience at Moose Ridge Golf Course! When we arrived, an attendant grabbed our clubs and put them on the cart! Johnny in the Pro Shop was incredibly welcoming when we arrived and let my husband and I go out as a twosome, which was a nice touch. The pace of play was perfect, allowing us to enjoy our game without any rush. The course itself is beautiful, with well-maintained greens and stunning scenery. The golf carts were a highlight with their Bluetooth and GPS features, making our game even more enjoyable and convenient. We also loved being able to email ourselves the scorecard afterward. The only downside was the lack of vegetarian options in the food offerings, as I'm plant-based. It would be great to see some veggie choices in the future. Overall, a fantastic place to golf, and we will definitely be back!
