We had our September 2023 wedding reception at Young’s, and it was an absolute DREAM. Jill, Zack, and Amanda (and really all of the staff) made the entire process so easy. From the incredible dinner, and full charcuterie table, to amazing bar service, to the flexibility that a wedding day necessitates, Young’s delivered above and beyond. I would 100% recommend having a reception here for a U.P. wedding! Thank you to everyone at Young’s!
I’ve golfed here in the summer and snowshoed in the winter. Great experiences both times. A high quality golf adventure with memorable holes along the entirety of the course. A Bev cart girl roaming around providing refreshments. A nice indoor restroom part way thru the course. Snowshoe wise it was a nice experience, no charge for snowshoe. A couple of bucks for cross country skiing. Well worth it. As far as the golf course goes. Having just replayed it there are a couple notable holes. Hole 1 starts off with a nice basic par 4 off the back of the clubhouse. It winds to the left a little. Hole 3 is a downhill par hill par 3 with stadium tees so the farther back you tee the more downhill it is to the green. There is also nothing behind this green but another steep downhill. Hole 7 is the opposite. It’s an 200 yard uphill par 3. With the green protected by some bunkers Hole 8 is a downhill par 5. If you can nail your drive there is a chance you can get it down the hill. Very exciting Hole 9 is a cute par 4 that has water along the right side. It’s not super special, but it is a nice stop 11 is a left leaning par 4 with a creek. To try and go over or try and stop it short is a call you’ll have to make. It is after the green where the bathroom sits along with a couple of pop machines. Hole 12 is a par 5 that is similar to hole 11 with them both being left leaner with creeks on about the same spot. The only difference for hole 12 is there is a lake on the outside of the corner, forcing people to be wearing about getting too far off the tee. Hole 13 is an uphill par 3 with a blind green. You can see the flag, but not the actual green itself. It also has a bell to ring to announce you are clear. Hole 15 is a par 5 on a Valley. The tee is on a hill and the green is on a bigger hill with a dip in the middle. Very fun but challenging. Hole 16 is a cool par 4 with the creek in the middle and the tee boxes kinda moving up a hill as they go back. Hole 18 has the last par 3 next to the cart barn. Off the view of the clubhouse. Get ready for spectators from the parking lot. All and all a great course. Fast greens that kinda roll differently than you would expect. Get your buddies to putt first so you can see what they do.
I am very upset and hurt by the Easter egg hunt this year. My 5 year old daughter went with her group to find eggs and there were none on the ground. Other parents had the same issue. So we told the lady running it and she said go with the next group. We did. When they blew the whistle we had to climb up a hill covered in fallen trees and prickly bushes just to try to find an egg. We were told every kid would get a golden egg but that didn't happen. The big kids took all the eggs and didn't let the little ones have any. I tried to talk to the lady running it and she said sorry and walked away from me. I tried again to talk to an older lady and she got upset with me and told me to tell my daughter to pick from empty eggs from the bin. I told her that it wasn't a fair way to run the hunt. Many kids didn't get eggs and had no fun. She said shame on me. I was trying to tell her maybe there is a better way and she said no they already fixed it to a better way. And then she told me to leave. My daughter was crying. I will never return to this place. I used to go to all their events but after the way I was treated it won't happen. Horrible staff members. I am very disappointed because the people of the towns around here deserve better. Shame on that lady for being so rude.
