What people say about (Meadows Club House (MCH))

Branden Eagle

Amazing golf course with lush fairways, fast manicured greens, natural hazards and in the middle of a busting college campus. Host of several ncaa d2 championships

One of the Best Public Courses in Michigan! The Meadows at GVSU is a must-play for any serious golfer in West Michigan. The course is beautifully maintained with fast, true greens and challenging layouts that reward strategy and precision. It’s a links-style course with plenty of variety and some truly scenic holes. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the pace of play was solid even with a full tee sheet. Practice facilities are excellent, and the overall vibe is relaxed yet professional. You can tell they take pride in what they do here. Whether you're a local or visiting the area, The Meadows delivers a championship-caliber experience at a great value. Highly recommend!

I played The Meadows on July 5 with my brother-in-law and we were paired with a father and his 16 year old son learning to golf. All four of us are respectful, capable golfers, and we kept a solid pace — finishing 9 holes in just under two hours, which is well ahead of most course standards. On the 8th hole, we were actually waiting a minute or two before hitting our approach shot because a younger staff member was actively watering the green, about 10 feet from the flag. Just as we were being patient and courteous to this grounds crew member, we were aggressively approached by an older, heavyset staff member (possibly a ranger or marshal) driving a cart with a checkered flag who was immediately rude, intimidating, and confrontational. To the point we initially thought he was joking. When we politely asked about the watering situation, he sarcastically said the crew member “is always looking out for himself” and told us not to worry about hitting him with a ball — which seemed completely inappropriate and reckless to suggest. We weren’t fooling around or holding anyone up — we were doing the right thing, and still got berated. This staff member’s unprofessional demeanor was hostile and degrading, turning what had been an enjoyable and professional round into an unnecessarily stressful and awkward experience. It’s unfortunate — the course itself is in good shape, but the behavior of this particular individual was completely unacceptable. Golf should be welcoming — especially when young players are learning the game. There’s no excuse for this kind of aggressive attitude or behavior from course staff.
