Poor Service, Poor Conditions, and No Respect for Members I came to Rustic Glen genuinely considering a $1,000 membership — and they practically had it, all they had to do was not blow it. But from the very first interaction, the experience has been disappointing. Tim first received me when I went into ask about memberships. Tim acted as if answering basic questions was a burden — eye-rolling and short responses included. He was very rude and unpleasant to deal with. Later that week, i thought well maybe Tim had a bad day…And decided to go back in. I had a 6:30 PM tee time and went in to pay, only to be told by the staff that they were already closing up. The man shrugged and said they had league and he usually just closes early. When I pointed out that I had a valid tee time, he simply said there was nothing he could do. No apology, no solution Days later, thinking this is the last time i try to have a good expirence. I asked another staff member if the online tee times matched what was available in the shop. She said yes, and that they’re open until the last tee time at 7:07, even nights that host league. So clearly, this guy from the previous night just didn’t want to help. He just wanted to go home early. I also tried to speak with Joe, who I believe is the owner or manager. He couldn’t even be bothered to stand up from behind his desk. No eye contact, no real effort to engage. Just dismissive and marginally more polite than Tim. Not exactly the kind of environment that makes you want to drop a grand. As for the course itself: the 18 holes I played were just okay. The fairways were weedy, uneven, and felt more like a mowed-down field than a proper golf course. It was also very easy. No real trees. Bunkers in not challenging locations. Greens were okay. But a lot of pitch marks, it’s clear the customers don’t really treat this course well either. By comparison, my experience at Forest Lake was miles better. The course is in far better shape, the staff treat you like a valued member, and the overall vibe is closer to a true club experience — not a grumpy municipal course with inflated prices. Bottom line: Go to Forrest lake. Rustic Glen had a chance to earn my business multiple times and blew it entirely through poor service, subpar conditions, and a clear lack of respect for potential members.
I’ve golfed a lot of courses and never was I paired up with a random player being forced to share a cart. Course was soaked on the first decent day to golf. Putting practice green was muddy and very slow and bumpy. Golf cart fleet was old and dirty due to swamp like conditions, they weren’t being rinsed after use either. Greens were patchy and impossible to read, felt like I was putting on the fair way at times. No cart paths or ball wash stations so keep that in mind. Facilities were very outdated and cryptic. Was not approached by cart to purchase any drinks mid round and the driving range was closed. The course layout was alright there is a lot of blind shots to the green that make it challenging and some water features but I’d recommend waiting until the end of July when the greens have had a chance to dry out.
the course has fairly fast greens but not unfair. There isn’t really any rough per say and the course is pretty wide open!!! for better players, it’s probably not your kind of course but for medium to lower handicap players, this is a very fun course. I really enjoy it. I played from the senior tees that makes it very fair test moderately priced and excellent driving range and putting green usually later on the weekends it’s not too crowded. Definitely recommend this golf course.
